Some love stories begin with fireworks. Ours started with... a 12-step meeting. (If you know, you know—hello, 13th step! 😅)

We met by what can only be called divine timing while Nick was living at West Coast Sober Living, just beginning his recovery journey. Shelby was already a year clean and radiating her usual spark. From the start, there was an undeniable connection—equal parts exciting, raw, and real.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing. We hit some bumps early on, but instead of running, we chose each other. Again and again. We decided to grow, to learn, and to face life together. That choice became the foundation of everything that followed.

Over time, our connection deepened into a love that’s hard to describe but easy to feel—full of laughter, honesty, hard-earned trust, and a whole lot of goofy joy. We’ve built a life we’re proud of, not because it’s been perfect, but because we’ve shown up for each other through it all.

Then came the Mexico trip. Shelby thought it was just a dreamy beach vacation with friends… but Nick had other plans.

With a sunset sky painting the perfect backdrop, our friends Ronnie, Lara, and Chris secretly decorated the beach with flowers while two mariachi musicians waited nearby. Shelby, totally unsuspecting, thought we were just going for a stroll. She almost walked right past the whole setup (classic 😂), but then we stopped, and Nick got down on one knee with a ring made from both of our grandmothers’ rings—a piece of our past and future, all in one.

Shelby said YES. (And may have cried. A lot.)

That moment captured everything we’ve built together—love, growth, grit, and magic.

We can’t wait to say “I do” on August 24, 2025, surrounded by the people who’ve cheered us on, held us up, and loved us through it all. Thank you for being part of our story. Let’s celebrate this next chapter—big love, bad dance moves, and all.
